Open Photographic Society Distinctions

The Open Photographic Society (OPS), founded in 2007, is an exclusively electronic photographic society which promotes and maintains high photographic standards. It is also our intention to encourage interest in photography, share knowledge and ideas, help develop photographers' interests and skills, and promote the photographic interests of those who use our services. Any photographer, whether amateur and professional, is free to make use of our facilities.

OPS does not currently offer distinctions but hopes to do so in the future. The three planned levels of distinction are:

●   the Licentiateship (LOPS), which will be awarded for a good level of basic photographic skill and competence;

●   the Associateship (AOPS), which will be awarded for high standards of individual technical competence and creativity in selected areas of photographic work; and

●  the Fellowship (FOPS), which will be awarded for exceptional or distinguished ability in specialised fields of photography.

The award of a distinction would entitle the holder to use the letters LOPS, AOPS or FOPS after their name. Further news will be posted in due course.
