Water

The obvious hazards presented by working near water with expensive equipment should not put photographers off trying to capture the wonderful opportunities available. However, before embarking on a project in or around water it is it is worth considering what precautions might be taken.

A camera or lens dropped in to water is probably ruined - particularly where salt water is involved. However, less obvious hazards such as spray and rain may be more difficult to predict and handle. A simple water-resistant case can be made by placing the camera in a plastic bag and making a hole through which the lens can project. This will stop most water  which would otherwise be deposited on the equipment as a result of precipitation or spray.

Film, memory cards and other accessories must also be protected from water. Cheap plastic boxes with airtight lids are ideal for such purposes.
