FAQ - OPS

What is OPS?

OPS is a free-subscription all-electronic photographic society.

What are the aims of OPS?

To provide an environment in which photographers can discuss and display their images, share their knowledge, and consequently develop their skills and experience. Whether you are in the US, Australia or the UK makes no difference.

Aren't there some limitations inherent within an electronic-only society?

Yes. However, these are likely to decrease with time and are in any case outweighed by the substantial advantages of world-wide participation.

Can anyone join in?

Yes, just register your details on the forums for a free subscription. There is no concept of formal membership of OPS - just use the facilities as you wish and contribute where you can.

Can I use the forums?

Yes, just register your details and make a start.

Is OPS serious about photography using a mobile phone camera?

Yes. With 10 megapixel cameras and good miniature lenses now becoming available, it is possible to create excellent images using a camera phone. However, the photographer must know how to use it.

Can OPS help me publish my best photographs?

Yes, provided you have sufficient high-quality material to justify such a project.
