Glossary of Terms

Watermark – a coded identification mark embedded in a digital image, sometimes invisibly, to protect against copyright violation.

Wide-angle lens – a lens with a focal length significantly shorter than that of a standard lens.

White balance – an adjustment made on a digital camera to correct for the colour temperature of the prevailing light, and hence remove colour casts from images such as those captured in tungsten light.
