Royal Photographic Society (RPS)
The Royal Photographic Society of Great Britain, whose headquarters is in Bath, is a learned society which promotes the art and practice of photography internationally. It is independent of other photographic organisations, and comprises amateur and professional photographers worldwide.
The RPS organises exhibitions, runs courses and seminars, and also awards distinctions. It has many specialist interest groups that promote particular aspects of photography, as well as a regional structure. It publishes the Royal Photographic Society Journal and other specialist technical papers.
The Distinctions of the RPS are:
● LRPS – Licentiateship;
● ARPS – Associateship; and
● FRPS – Fellowship.
These are awarded upon submission of work to a distinctions panel and are recognised by photographers worldwide.
