Skylight filter

Skylight filters, such as the Hoya Skylight 1B, are used to remove the bluish casts that tend to appear in open shade under clear-sky conditions. Their effect is more pronounced that that of UV or haze filters. The filter's absorption peak corresponds to a film's green spectrum. This produces good colour balance, clarity and skin tones. In particular, it removes blue casts, and also the green casts so often experienced in portraiture when working near vegetation. Skylight filters can be used for colour or black-and-white photography.

Skylight filters have no noticeable effect on other types of images and may be permanently attached to lenses to provide physical protection.

The filter factor is zero.
