The Photographic Society of South Africa (PSSA) recognizes excellence in photographic work, and in high standards of service to the PSSA, through its awards and honours scheme. Achievement awards are made at the following levels:

Members applying for achievement awards may choose the Licentiate or Associate as their starting level. However, only Associates (APSSA) may apply for Fellowship (FPSSA), and only Fellows may apply for Master (MPSSA).

Applications for LPSSA are assessed on the basis of a submission of 10 prints, slides or electronic images, or two audio visual sequences. Those for APSSA are assessed on a submission of 15 prints, slides or electronic images, or three audio visual sequences. Fellowship applicants must submit 25 prints, slides or electronic images, or four audio visual sequences. All images or sequences within a submission must satisfy the current standards to be successful.

Details of the awards and honours scheme may be obtained from the PSSA's website.
