The improvement cycle diagram is just a simple way to illustrate the logical steps necessary to achieve progressively better images. The steps are simple and the whole exercise can, at least in a limited way, be completed without the help of others if the photographer is able to be entirely objective. However the improvement process is likely to be more successful, although perhaps more painful, when independent expert advice is sought. The advice of family and friends, although well intentioned, is less likely to be entirely unbiased. The best approach is therefore to seek the help of an acknowledged expert in the appropriate field of work.
