Sections
The Society is internet-based and therefore entirely reliant upon the electronic medium. Images can only be displayed on the Society's website, and hence shared with other photographers, once they have been converted in to digital form. However, the Society's structure reflects the reality that photographers work in various ways, giving priority to different media, to achieve their final images. The main purpose of this sectional subdivision is to enable people with similar interests to identify each other more easily. Each section also has its own forum for discussion of related topics and, wherever possible, is represented within the Society's annual exhibition.
The Society currently has six sections. These are:
● the print section;
● the projected image section;
● the monochrome section;
● the digital imaging section;
● the studio section; and
● the mobile phone section.
The print section is mainly for photographers who work with printed images, including colour, monochrome and digitally-manipulated images. The projected image section caters for those who work with film-based slides or digital projection media. The monochrome section focuses upon monochrome image in all its various forms. The digital imaging section is for people interested in digital capture, manipulation and printing. The studio section is for photographers whose primary interests lie within the various studio environments. The mobile phone section is for those who use camera phones.
