The Aims of the Society
The aims of the Society, as broadly declared in the rules, are to:
● promote the photographic interests of photographers;
● develop photographic appreciation and abilities;
● exchange information and ideas on photographic and allied subjects;
● provide opportunities for photographers to participate in on-line exhibitions; and
● provide a central location where photographers can showcase their work.
The photographic interests of the Society's photographers are perhaps most clearly displayed at the annual club exhibition held each spring. The variety of subject matter displayed is rivalled only by the countless different approaches, techniques and equipment used to create the images.
Photographic appreciation and ability is developed through the Society's website and discussion forums, its annual exhibition, and the provision of advice and guidance to those who submit images for evaluation and comment. Expert speakers may from time to time address the Society on-line on a wide variety of subjects, and may illustrate their lectures with inspiring displays of work. The various sections within the Society also hold specialized events planned with photographic education and development in mind.
The process of bringing together groups of people with comparable yet diverse photographic interests inevitably encourages communication and the exchange of ideas and experience. However, this website also has a pivotal role to play. Its structure encourages future development, and its content is open for all to improve.
